DIR-3 KYC Last Date

Every DIN holder, every year — and what happens to the DIN when it is missed.

Next due:30 Sep 2027in 342 days

Every person holding a Director Identification Number files DIR-3 KYC each year by 30 September. It applies whether or not you are currently a director of anything — the obligation attaches to the DIN, not to the directorship.

This catches people. A DIN obtained years ago for a company that was never incorporated, or a directorship long since resigned, still carries the annual filing.

DIR-3 KYC — miss it: ₹5,000, and the DIN is deactivated until you file

The DIN stops working

Miss the date and the DIN is marked deactivated. Reactivating it costs a flat ₹5,000 — there is no per-day scale and no cap, so filing a week late and filing a year late cost exactly the same.

Until it is reactivated, that DIN cannot be used to sign anything filed with the ROC. If the deactivated director is the one who signs the company's annual filings, a ₹5,000 problem becomes a ₹100-a-day problem on AOC-4 and MGT-7 as well.

Web form or full form

If you have filed KYC before and nothing has changed, the web-based version is a confirmation that takes minutes. The full form is required the first time, or where your email, mobile or other particulars have changed since the last filing.

Common questions

What is the DIR-3 KYC last date?

30 September each year, for every person holding a DIN on 31 March of that year.

What is the penalty for late DIR-3 KYC?

A flat ₹5,000 to reactivate the DIN. It does not increase with the delay, but the DIN stays unusable until it is paid and filed.

Do I need to file if I am not a director anywhere?

Yes. The obligation attaches to holding a DIN, not to holding a directorship. A dormant DIN still needs its annual KYC.
